Longevity begins with deep, restorative sleep. If you struggle with insomnia, wake feeling unrefreshed, rely on caffeine to carry you through the day, or find that even a full night’s sleep never quite restores your energy, your body may be asking for something deeper than rest.
At Santani, we see sleep as one of the clearest reflections of overall wellbeing. Disturbed sleep is rarely an isolated problem. More often, it is a sign that the nervous system has fallen out of rhythm, stress has become chronic, or the body is carrying more physical and mental load than it can comfortably restore.
Rather than simply helping you sleep, our in-house physicians work to restore the conditions that allow deep, natural sleep to return. Guided by the principles of Ayurveda and supported by modern wellness science, we focus on calming the nervous system, reducing inflammation, improving digestion, balancing daily rhythms, and helping the body rediscover its innate capacity for recovery. True recovery is measured not by how long you sleep, but by how fully you awaken.
Every journey begins with a private consultation with one of our resident Ayurvedic physicians. Through an assessment of your constitution (Prakriti), your current state of balance (Vikriti), your lifestyle, sleep patterns and health goals, we create a personalised programme designed specifically for you.
Santani offers two distinct wellness pathways to suit different intentions and durations. Santani Refresh is designed for guests seeking genuine rest, rejuvenation and a first encounter with Ayurveda, typically three nights, offering a more flexible structure, and ideal as an introduction to wellness. Santani Transform is for guests with a specific health goal; a deeper, physician-led programme of seven to twenty-one nights in which every element of your stay, from treatments, nutrition, movement and rest, is designed around your constitution and your condition. Sleep & Recovery sits within the Transform pathway. If you are uncertain which is right for you, our team is available to advise before you book.
Your Transformation
Calming Ayurvedic therapies and breath-led practice quiet an over-alert nervous system, so the body remembers how to switch off.
Daily routine, light, food and movement are re-sequenced to rebuild your natural sleep-wake cycle from the ground up.
Deep rest allows the body to repair. Energy returns, mood steadies, and mornings begin to feel like mornings again.
Personalised Ayurvedic consultation includes dosha analysis, lifestyle review, tailored wellness plan, realistic goals, and ongoing progress monitoring.
- Personalised consultation with the resident Ayurvedic doctor
- Body-type (dosha) analysis to understand metabolic patterns
- Review of lifestyle, cravings, sleep and stress
- Tailored wellness plan and realistic detox goals
- Progress checks throughout the programme
The therapies below indicate the range that may be drawn upon for this pathway. Your exact combination is carefully selected by the resident Ayurvedic doctor after your consultation and may be adjusted as you progress.
This may include daily 90-minute Ayurvedic and spa treatments to support sleep and recovery, along with mind-body practices, nutrition plan and lifestyle guidance, such as:
- Shirodhara — a warm, steady stream of oil to the forehead that quiets the mind
- Takradhara — medicated buttermilk poured rhythmically to cool an overactive system
- Shiro Pichu — an oil-soaked compress that soothes the head and nervous system
- Abhyangam — full-body warm-oil massage that grounds excess Vata
- Reflexology — pressure work that eases the body toward rest
- Circadian rhythm restructuring — meal timing, light exposure, activity scheduling and pre-sleep protocol designed to shift your body’s sleep-wake cycle
- Pranayama — specific breathwork techniques to down-regulate the nervous system before sleep
- Guided meditation — focused on rumination patterns and sleep anxiety
- Morning Group Hatha Yoga — energising practice timed to reinforce the waking phase of the circadian rhythm
- Pre-sleep wind-down sequence — a structured 45-minute protocol each evening combining breathwork, Yoga Nidra and herbal support
Expected Results
Sleep improvement is a process, not an instant event. These outcomes are most consistently reported across stays focused on sleep recovery.
Renewal Phase — 5 to 7 Nights
The initial phase focuses on calming the nervous system so the body learns to switch off. Most guests feel noticeably lighter within the first week.

- Greater resilience to stress and disruption
- Guests who continue to practice techniques like pranayama and follow the pre-sleep sequence taught at Santani tend to maintain results in their daily lives.
- A personalised sleep and recovery plan specific to your pattern of disruption and your home environment
“I had not slept through the night in years. By night six at Santani I woke before my alarm, having slept without interruption. I lay there for several minutes simply not believing it. Santani restored my rhythm and I feel like a new person."

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if this wellness goal is right for me?
This pathway is designed for guests who recognise one or more of the following:
- Difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking genuinely rested
- Persistent fatigue that sleep alone does not seem to resolve
- A mind that is alert at night but flat and sluggish through the day
- Sleep that is quietly affecting mood, metabolism and clear thinking
- A sense of being physically and mentally depleted; and ready to rebuild, not simply rest
Is this an insomnia retreat or a sleep clinic?
In effect, it is both – approached through Ayurveda. Guests come to us for insomnia, disrupted sleep, sleep anxiety and chronic fatigue. Rather than treating symptoms in isolation, our resident physician addresses the underlying nervous-system and lifestyle patterns that drive poor sleep.
Will I be given sleeping medication?
No. This is a natural, physician-led programme. Support comes from Ayurvedic therapies such as Shirodhara, breath and meditation practice, dosha-specific nutrition, and herbs like Ashwagandha where appropriate — all designed to restore sleep rather than sedate it.
I'm on medication or have a diagnosed sleep condition. Can I still come?
Yes. Do not stop prescribed sleep medication without consulting your prescribing physician before your stay. Please share your full history and medications during your pre-arrival consultation. Our medical team reviews every guest individually and adapts the programme for safety and effect.
How long should I stay for meaningful results?
The minimum stay is 5 nights. Most guests find 7–14 nights allow the sleep–wake cycle to genuinely re-establish, with the changes more likely to hold once they return home.
What happens when I return to my normal schedule?
The departure plan addresses this directly. The circadian rhythm restructuring, pre-sleep protocol and Pranayama practices are all designed to be compatible with a normal working life. Most guests find that the practices require fifteen to thirty minutes each evening and become habitual within two weeks of returning home.
