“Long-term wellness is the path to optimal wellness. Get back to harmony with nature and nurture.”
– Vickum Nawagamuwage, Founder & CEO
At Santani Wellness Kandy, we pride ourselves on offering holistic well-being and luxury in perfect harmony. So, when the BBC’s “Pursuit of Wellness” series set out to explore luxury wellness retreats across the globe, we were honored to be featured among the destinations that redefine what true wellness means.
Why Santani Wellness Kandy? A Philosophy Rooted in Human Sustainability
At Santani, peace of mind is the ultimate luxury. Unlike conventional retreats that focus on short-term indulgence, Santani is built on the principle of human sustainability, guiding us to heal the root cause of modern challenges that individuals face every day. This philosophy nurtures guests well-being through mindful living, nature immersion, deep healing and the knowledge to sustain this holistic way of life.
Our eco-conscious design ensures that every element, from our open-air yoga pavilion and our thermal salt soak pool to our culinary experience, exists in harmony with the surrounding wilderness. Here, luxury isn’t about excess, but about fostering balance.
Ancient Wisdom | The Role of Ayurveda
At the heart of Santani Wellness Kandy lies Ayurveda (meaning “Science of life”), a healing system around 5,000-year-old that guides our approach to wellness. Every guest begins their journey at Santani Wellness Kandy with a consultation from our in-house Ayurvedic doctor, who crafts personalised treatments to restore balance to the body, mind, and spirit.
Our treatments and medicine are deeply rooted in the intelligence of nature, using only the purest natural ingredients, from herbal oils to leaves, to heal and nourish the body and promote vitality. This advances healing beyond symptom relief through earth-grown medicine perfected over the centuries.
Nourishment Through Rasa Haya | The Six Tastes of Life
Our culinary philosophy is inspired by Rasa Haya, the Ayurveda principle that brings nourishment from balancing the six tastes – sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent, and astringent. Each dish is thoughtfully prepared according to the individual dosha (Ayurvedic body type) of each guest to support their unique wellness needs and goals. This intricate approach turns our dining into an essential part of the healing process. Many of our guests have expressed how they’ve discovered newfound energy and relief from stress simply through the way we nurture them from within.
